Colleagues in the nautical field control the entire ship transport on the Elbe from HPA’s harbour master’s office (Oberhafenamt). In the Nautical Centre, you use radar stations, AIS transponders and meteorological as well as hydrological sensors to monitor all the goings-on in the port – ensuring safety and efficiency of ship transport. What’s more, you liaise between shipping companies, handling operators and stevedoring companies, and are available for questions at major maritime events.
